The Foundation of Truth

What is the Bible?

The Bible is The Word of God

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

The Bible is the word of God.  This means that the Bible is the written text of what God thought was most important for mankind to read.  This is much more important than you or I writing what we think are the most important things for other people to know.  We can only write what we’ve learned in life from our limited life experiences.  God’s knowledge and purity is boundless.  God created this world and everything in it.  He created everything for a certain purpose.  The Bible is God’s word to us regarding the most important things we can learn about this world and it’s purpose as well as ourselves and our own purpose.

The Foundation

The Bible is the foundation of God’s communication to us.   Without the Bible we would not know anything about God with certainty.  We would only be able to assume what we think is or is not God.  Thankfully, we don’t have to assume what God would like us to know about Him!  In fact, the words of God are so important that they are what will judge us in the last day.

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us

The Words of Christ

In The Beginning

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

The same was in the beginning with God.

All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

John 1:1-5 (KJV)

The Word of God is of much greater importance that any other document that has ever existed.  The entire Scripture is the written Word of God

2 Peter 1:20-21 (KJV)

The Voice of Creation

The words of Jesus Christ are recorded from Genesis 1, which is the first chapter in the Bible, through Rev 22, which is the last chapter in the Bible.  In Genesis 1 it is recorded that God spoke words and created the world.  We know that the one speaking the words to create the world was Jesus Christ.  Colossians 1 declares that Jesus Christ was the one speaking in Genesis 1.

The words of Jesus created the physical world and the words of Jesus also create spiritual life in us.

13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: 14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: 15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: 16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

The Word At Work Within You

The spiritual life that is in us is a reflection of Jesus Christ Himself.  The words of Jesus Christ are a promise to you that He will create these things in you if you submit to Him.  Receive the Words of Jesus Christ for what they are.

For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
